rather more technical this:

1:What signal relay and its position would change a signal from red to
proceed?

2:What signal relay and its position would change a signal from 1 yellow to
2 yellows?

3:What signal relay and its position would change a signal from 2 yellows to
green?

4: This question relates to an automatic signalled section of track. Going
through this section trains pass signal 1 then 2 then 3 etc in that
order. A train is on the approach to number 4 signal, which is showing
green, having cleared the overlap of number 3 signal. There are no lamp
faults. Answer "up" or "down" to indicate the positions of the following relays.

No 1Signal No 2 Signal No 3 Signal No 4 Signal
1 HR 2 HR 3 HR 4 HR
1 HHR 2 HHR 3 HHR 4 HHR
1 DR 2 DR 3 DR 4 DR
1 ECR 2 ECR 3 ECR 4 ECR
2 ECPR 3 ECPR 4 ECPR 5 ECPR

5: As question 4 with a train approaching number 4 signal at green only this
time there is no lamp lit in number 2 signal.

6: The miniature relays, EPRs, in each signal aspect perform 2 functions.
What are they?

No 1Signal No 2 Signal No 3 Signal No 4 Signal
1 HR 2 HR 3 HR 4 HR
1 HHR 2 HHR 3 HHR 4 HHR
1 DR 2 DR 3 DR 4 DR
1 ECR 2 ECR 3 ECR 4 ECR
2 ECPR 3 ECPR 4 ECPR 5 ECPR

7: If the main filament of a red aspect fails and the lamp is then lit using its
auxilliary fillament, what effect does this have to the signals ECR?

8: If both main and auxilliary filaments fail in the double yellow aspect when the signal is displaying 2 yellows what effect does this have to the signals ECR?

9: If both main and auxilliary filaments fail in the red aspect when the
signal is displaying red what effect does this have to the signals ECR?

10: If the main filament of a lamp burns out dropping the EKSR, what happens to the EKSR when the signal changes aspect using a lamp that is burning on its main filament?

11:In controlled signalling circuitry what is the purpose of the TSR?

12: What is the most important test to be made on a track circuit?

13: By answering "up" or "down" what happens to the following track circuit
characteristics if the weather conditions change to very wet?

a) Ballast resistance
b) Relay voltage
c) Relay front contact pressure
d) Drop shunt

14: What is the preferred method of bonding track circuits, parallel or series?

Good luck! This is for engineers only

Ah, the wonderful world of the S&T. I'd have a go at it if I could lay my hands on a list of the relay designations.

Whilst searching online for such a list though, I did stumble across the website containing the original questions and answers though ;) . I would advise careful treading, as some of the answers on there are most definitely incorrect!

You're very sharp! i was wondering when you would suss it out. i have a very good idea where the mistakes are in this set of questions. Let's see if we agree!
And i promise to make quiz 6 up from my own head!
Well done, Tomnick!
