Hi guys

we live above leeds station and I was wondering where is the signal box nowadays - on the top of City house or the brown brick building in the middle I guess above where the ticket barriers are ?

When I did work experience it was a big affiar with station anouncers and various signalers

Would love to see it now

Cheers

Paul

It's now all controlled from York IECC, somewhere opposite Platform 11.

It's in York. York IECC took control of the Leeds area a few years ago.

Well...I haven't read the article, but at the time, because signalling centres don't need windows it was suggested that perhaps a large fish tank would have a calming effect in the York box...everyone agreed but budgetry cuts turned that into a few budgies in a cage...but for a while when the live announcements started from the "box", as opposed to the, now coffee shop, Outer office next the footbridge, all you could hear was the tweeting and twittering of said budgies within the announcements...fantastic.
Mind they did have a sexy North american lady recently doing the announcements, with her Kenaresboro and Edinboro...champion!. More of that please. Aren't the railways fun?:p
