Should the UK introduce a jingle across our railway network.

It is the Eurostar jingle. It plays before the automated announcements on the Eurostar platforms at Ashford and Ebbsfleet and London St Pancras and onboard the class 374 trains every time the Guard makes a manual announcement. It was introduced about ten years ago as the main Eurostar jingle.
Thank you so much, I knew I had heard it from somewhere!

I just heard the 3 chime jingle at Waterloo East with an automated announcement about strike action.

Wow how strange! I have no idea how that happened! Both the three chime jingle and four chime jingle are from the Ditra system and can only play on Ditra based systems such as Amey and Funkwerk and Ketech and Thales etc. Where as at Waterloo East they use the Atos Worldline system which is completely unconnected. So i have no idea how that jingle managed to get on that system and be played at Waterloo East station. I know that Waterloo East has a lot of old hardware (for an example it is the only station to still have the old Connex era Data Display boards) so maybe something to do with old systems still in use.

Not trying to be a spoil sport, but will any 'jingle' improve the operating and running of trains without countless cancelations? I think not! Sorry! :D

Obviously not. However, is there a single company out there that doesn't have some form of brand? And "audio brands" are becoming more important with more online stuff. I think Nestle were probably first with that "do do do dee do" they have on the end of all their ads, but companies are increasingly going that way. And how can't you like "rrrring de de da-da" on SNCF, it's just so French? :)

We do have one. It's the doorbell ding, dong. Before announcements.

Only on GWR...

Where is that heard? Which stations have you heard that?

It's the same jingle used on the Electrostars before Julie Berry (or Janine Cooper Marshall on the GWR ones) starts saying stuff like for example "Welcome onboard the Southern service to London Victoria. The next station is Crawley"

I've also heard that at Southeastern stations with automated announcements. Not the regular service announcements though, it has been used with the male voice used for announcements about turbulence when a train passes through, and it being cold etc. I believe when I have heard the "ding dong" jingle it has preceded announcements about strike action, or maybe planned closures. The same voice was used for the announcement I noticed earlier with the 3 chime jingle.

The Dutch jingle is a good one - clear, recognisable and fairly short. Somewhat strangely it’s also used on Class 700s for manual announcements - not sure if any other Siemens stock uses it!

Class 380 trains also use it for manual announcements. So both the 380 and 700 definitely use it. Possibly the 707 and 717 too but i can not confirm as i am yet to hear a manual announcement on these. I am very intrigued as to how the Dutch NS jingle got on these trains. I would have thought it was a copyright trademarked jingle of NS but maybe not.

There is also that unknown male voice who does the safety announcements alongside her. He has a very pleasant cheerful sounding voice. I think the two of them definitely sound well suited to Northern Rail trains.
He's blushing right now, I'm sure. ;)

Isn't it more like "mmBleurp ba DAH na"

I'd go for the jingle off of Hi-de-Hi (with Ruth Madoc doing all of the announcements).

The announcements at Glasgow Central used to be preceded by a bong which sounded like the one from Hi-De-Hi.
