Should the HS2-HS1 tunnel under London be uncancelled?

According to the model's logic, tearing down all the historic buildings at each and constructing a grand new modern terminal uniting them with a massive shared concourse would improve attractiveness of journeys even though all the platforms would be exactly where they are today and no passenger would have a shorter walk.

Ah, but we don’t need to spend all that money… as you can turn all of the HS2 and Southeastern High Speed on consecutive 7.5 minute departures, you can deliver the whole ECML service that uses King’s Cross off 2 platforms there, and demolish the rest to sell it off for housing. Just think of the benefits to passengers!

Thanks @Bald Rick , that makes sense, seems a bit silly to build the junctions so far out but that’s perfectly understandable.
420m from the incoming Home signal to the international platform ends. That's not bad, considering they've managed to squeeze in a clear overlap and pointwork to access nine platforms. It's slow through the throat for a fair distance, partly due to the tightly curved approach which also limits acceleration on departure, but also because buffer stop approaches are very cautious in modern operations practice.

If stations are right next door like kings cross and st pancras I think adding more than one interchange penalty is too much. According to the model's logic, tearing down all the historic buildings at each and constructing a grand new modern terminal uniting them with a massive shared concourse would improve attractiveness of journeys even though all the platforms would be exactly where they are today and no passenger would have a shorter walk.
And there would be cause to deviate from PDFH baseline when modelling this particular interchange (Not least because there's a shared LU station between the two) if doing it for an actual project. Somewhere the Thameslink demand modelling might be publicly released, that would have had to consider it.
