I have just received my FIP coupons (for four different railway companies/countries) for a trip to Europe shortly. They are of the new paper type and are stapled together. Can I separate them so I don't have to hand an inspector all four when making a journey entirely within one country? The old type were stapled together in a booklet with the same code perforated through so could not be separated.

The new FIP coupons are a bit of a pain without the front cover book now, easily getting tatty with a lot of use.

I used mine for this year in early summer, and just re-organised the coupons more methodically than ATOC had. There were no issues, so I would presume that handing over 1 coupon on its own also would have no problems.

The big loss I found was most ticket inspection staff looked at the front cover to see what country had issued the coupons, to see what language to speak to you in, and with that going, they presumed that the first coupon was the company you worked for now!

There is absolutely no problem in either separating and/or reorganising these tickets to your own requirements. Based on my many travels using them. As an aside sometimes they are issued to me stapled - sometimes not.

Many travels? They've only been in the new format for a year and a half! You must be doing well to get time off!

Previously, with the perforated number, there was no swapping between books.

I average about 4 trips a year - it's amazing how far you can get in a long w/e. This year I have done Portugal - Spain - France; France - Spain; & France - Germany - Sweden - Denmark - Germany - Netherlands - Belgium. I'm off to Denmark - Sweden - Poland - Czech Republic next week and will try to slip another trip to Germany in before my German pass runs out in November. I still have a week and a half over Christmas to sort out, and the first trip of next year (Sicily & Malta) is almost finalised too!

Correct, although I did re marshal them into the correct order for my travel.
