Separate tickets and group save

Hi, me and 2 friends want to travel to Swansea. 2 of us would 1st travel from Bristol Temple Meads to bristol parkway. The 3rd person will then join us at bristol parkway. So we are looking at getting group travel ticket from bristol parkway to Swansea. And separately 2 of us will buy a ticket from Bristol Temple Meads to bristol parkway (using disabled railcard discount). The problem is that the group travel ticket is using advance singles. So if the train from Bristol Temple Meads to bristol parkway is late, does this mean we will need to buy new tickets for the bristol parkway to swansea leg? I have read split ticketing is OK for missed connections, but as one of the people on the group ticket doesn't have the 1st leg of the journey, will it still be OK for her?

I don't think GroupSave discount can be applied to advance tickets.

Indeed. From tfw's website:

If there’re three to nine of you travelling together, you can save money by buying a Small Group Day ticket. This offers a 20% discount on Standard Day Returns.

And the groupsave is basically an off-peak day return.
