will be travelling up to Scotland in june on an All line Rover ticket, how do I obtain a seat reservation in advance,[cant get ALR until 3 days befor travel]

What I'd do would be to contact ScotRail and explain, asking them to make the reservation.

That is what I believe to be a Old Restriction - was discussed on here a while back but can't find the thread.
Once you have the ticket then you will be able to reserve seats at any station or through FSR Telesales.

Yes, you can buy a rover ticket for June now. No restriction on selling in advance (other than I presume the normal 1 year for singles and returns).

Ring FirstScotRail and ask to be booked onto the specific service. They'll post you out a conversation.

I agree, you can buy an ALR up to six weeks in advance
I made my reservations over three days, each taking about 20 minutes, at Glasgow Central

I also made some via email, as seats could not be booked at Glasgow Central
Cross Country, ATW, and WSR all managed to process my requests by email
First ScotRail also made two adjustments and one additional reservation by email
None of them asked for proof of the ticket, I simply advised that I held a First Class All Line Rail Rover valid until 03 July 2009

I also had First ScotRail add a note on my Euston - Fort William that I may be boarding at Crewe instead of Euston

The 3-day restriction was removed over a year ago.
