If there's any case for sending Crossrail onto the Chiltern line then it wouldn't be at the expense of Heathrow. There will be services that turn back at Paddington, probably extended in future to turn back at OOC, that could be extended further.

The Heathrow Express takes up valuable space on the GWR outside of Paddington, the fares are to be blunt, a rip-off, and soon the trains themselves will be bog standard Electrostars.

What will become of the HX 332s? Can they be used elsewhere?

(Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this seems as good a place as any to ask)

I'm sure those businessmen are happy paying £30+ for a 15 minute journey (if those businessmen are not on expenses, of course)

I've been known to walk 15 minutes to Earls Court to get the Zone 2 tube fare to Heathrow.

I've got an early departure in a few days. My £8.80 advance single is well worth the extra 45 minutes of sleep :)
