First you’d think will opt to take up the additional options from the AT300 order for the Stirling route. The 222’s would be short term in any case. Much like the thread in question, they’ve been a lot quieter with regards to that operation, instead being far more focused on Lumo and Hull Trains.

What I can see happening, is them taking a few 222’s, with new 803’s coming along later and ScotRail eventually having all the 222’s.

it’s a shame we couldn’t rewind the clock back a bit and ScotRail could tag on to Iarnrod Éireann’s order for the 22000 Class DMUs from Rotem. Although they are max speed 161 km/h (100 mph), they are designed around a Mk3 and seem to offer everything a Mk3 does well, as well as having the same running gear as the Turbostars.

The cynic in me wonders April in which year? Given the length of time it seems to take to procure anything, April this year would be astoundingly fast.

It's a paper procurement exercise where they have blatantly already decided in advance which second-hand stock they want to acquire and from whom.

Recent procurements which have been slow have either been open contests for new stock which is a wildly more complex process, or for extremely knackered old stock which needed a very substantial rebuild. There's no real reason it should go anything like that slowly. In any case, awarding the contract by April is one thing - the stock being in Scotland and running services would still not happen for some time afterwards..

I agree, the 222s are likely to be the only compliant bid and my timescales basically assume a single bidder and that governance is all basically lined up.

Based on other cascades, perhaps there will be a transfer to Scotrail with immediate sublease back to EMR until the 810s are in service.
There continues to be lively discussion on the 810 thread about how well that is, or is not going.

I haven't a clue but I would predict with this morning's official announcement regarding the lumo sterling service that if sr do take the meridian fleet they will accept the bulk of it. Plus the additional carriages freed up by lumo only wanting six car and they will then accept the remaining units once lumo either packs up or goes electric with a new fleet.

Yeah, and we still have no confirmation of what ScotRail are actually going to choose for their replacement trains.

The rest are going to ScotRail. It's the worst kept secret going, we've already got the traction manuals at the training school and work to ready some depots is underway.

Whatever happened to the proposed Carmarthen service.

I might have missed it, but not seeing anything that denies that options on a few more 222s have been taken, but not publicly announced.
I am guessing Scotrail could potentially be outbid on price they are prepared to pay to get all remaining 222s, and only secure a smaller quantity.
