Hi,

1) How frequent are trains between Salou and Barcelona? (Timetable link?)
2) What is the price for a 28 year old, 32 year old, 39 year old, 60 year old, 35 year old and a 4 month old individually or using group tickets if available (return tickets)?
3) What are the options to purchase such a ticket in Salou? Does it have a ticket office/machine?
4) How long is the journey?
5) What is the stock like?

Thanks in advance :)

Some years since I was last in Barcelona, and I only used the Rodalies (outer suburban), but pending a more informed reply:
as far as I can make out from the RENFE site, it's EUR8.80 each adult each way on a Regional Express, or from EUR13.90 on a Talgo (booked train only) - there is one back in the evening but none before 12.28 outward. Journey time between 1h 5 and 1h 30.

Note - all the detailed pages on the site are in Spanish :(

The train is not that frequent plus salou train station is in the old town part of salou. The modern part where majority of tourists go is at the other end and is about a 25 minute walk from the station if you have luggage a cab may be better from the station

Another option the bus Plana coach service departs from t1 at Barcelona and takes they say 2hours but I have heard people say it has done it in 90minutes. The great thing is this is almost like a door to door service the driver asks what hotel your staying at then stops at the stop nearest your hotel to let you off

I think the OP is enquiring about a day return trip to Barcelona, not a transfer from the airport?

Sorry that was my error

I would still take a look at the Bus Plana website they do say trips and busses run pretty frequent

Taking a Talgo to Tarragona (Old Mainline Station) and traveling on in a cab brings more flexibility as all trains stop there. When I did that journey I remember the trains being fairly frequent.

Don't take the AVE train to Camp de Tarragona as those trains are really expensive.

Yes I am staying in Salou and hoping to do a day trip with family to Barcelona as it is not too far away (70 miles?)

Our hotel is by the seafront IIRC. I'd prefer taking the train tbh :)

I see that there is a 1000 departure arriving at 1136 weekdays which seems fab unless there is something I've overlooked.

Depending where you want to go in Barca there is the choice of stops - I am fairly sure that all the Regional services go through to Franca station - a lovely station in itself. The zoo literally just around the corner - in-between is the stop at Passeig de Gracia, which is perhaps a tad more central. The 10.04 from Salou is indeed 11.36 at Sants, 11.42 at P.de.Gracia and finally 11.55 at Franca.

Going through to Franca is an excellent idea.
