I remember about 20 years ago in Dublin Airport, at least part of T1 was designed in such a way that arrivals were mixing with people departing as well. I remember being dumped into one part of T1 where there was just a guy standing there at the exit, and CTA arrivals were just waved through with minimal fuss. We were deposited into the departure lounge at the time, and there was no separation of departing and arriving passengers. I haven't used anything other than the Ryanair pier in recent years, so there's always separation there.
Yeah, that section (pier A/200-gates) has latterly been redesigned so arriving passengers are segregated.
I flew to Gatwick from Ireland and was sent via some form of passport control on return, showing the boarding card (but not passport) was necessary to pass.
That was the case for some time but nowadays, arriving passengers are bussed to domestic baggage reclaim. This change was because passengers from non-Irish origins were obtaining boarding passes for an Irish flight and using these to enter the country illegally.

I do wonder why Dublin Airport bothers to segregate passengers, especially because there's no way to leave the departure lounges without passing through passport control.

In theory without segregation a passenger could come in on an international flight and then travel onwards to a connecting domestic (or CTA) flight avoiding passport control.

How about Ryanair cancellation.?

We had a day trip from East Midlands to Dublin pencilled in for May 15th but the person who booked it has just been informed by FR that the outward has been cancelled. Will we have any problem getting the return refunded as well even though it is scheduled to operate?

You’ll get your money back provided it was booked as a return and not two singles.

Thanks to both of above. Put in for full refund and it has been processed with money due to hit account in five days. Mind at rest so thanks again, we have been stitched up by FR in the past during the pandemic and there is no trust in them but needs must when using local airports.

Often when all the other airlines are circling it seems Ryanair will happily land sideways in a 90 knot crosswind back to front & nose first into the runway just so they can play that annoying on time jingle.

""Tootootoot... 8 burst tyres & the runway fence wrapped around the main gear but wahey! ...anudder on time Royanair floight""

Personally I reckon you're unlucky. My biggest delay was an hour when the 737s retractable Airstairs got stuck and a large Spanish chap came out with a huge mallet to smash them back into the slot.

Flight was cancelled because of 'commercial reasons' which i take to mean not enough seats have been sold. Anyway they've done well out of us (again) as £115 trip to Dublin is now a £235 trip to Alicante.

As someone who’s about to be dumped at Stansted with no chance of onward travel because Ryanair can’t run a night of refreshments in a brewery, I don’t think you’re unlucky
They just don’t care
Their twitter is meant to be funny but it just makes it clearer they couldn’t care less
I fully expect no help from Ryanair when I land

Just over two hours, not sure what that entitles me to if anything
You'll get an email in a couple of days from them apologising for the delay but i think you are very much entitled to a damn site more than that. It's bad enough for UK based people arriving home but what are first time visitors supposed to do? When things go well with FR as they normally do then people get a good deal off them but when the opposite happens employee's and agents just disappear leaving passengers to get on with it.

It's important to point out that Ryanair doesn't have much of a presence on the ground. In Stansted, it's Blue Handling, but this is really just OmniServ (ABM internationally) under Ryanair branding.

It's a fair criticism to say that they simply vanish, but this is a general issue with ground handling. The UK CAA should be on them for this, but they've done nothing with Wizzair UK despite Wizz having a truly appalling record at the minute.

Ryanair did some amazing jiggery pokery a few years ago, flying DUB-STN. Cancelled and rebooked the flight no less than 3 times before we gave up and flew back Aer Lingus.

Had one a few years back when we found a flight from East Midlands to Rome at a civlised hour of the morning, only to hear a couple of days before that it had been re-timed to about 0600. We were offered a refund but they would have know most of their passengers would have made accommodation bookings etc so wouldn't have any alternative but to accept.
