Ok do you know where a single yellow on a 3 aspect would be showing approaching a teminus station?

If you mean the penultimate signal then the single Yellow will be the bottom aspect, Red aspect in the middle and *another Yellow aspect at the top for the double yellow.

*or possibly Red at bottom, Yellow in middle and Green up top depending on signalling arangements.

Very last signal should only be a two aspect with Red being bottom and Yellow on top.

Well I was under the impression it was just the yellow at the top as the red is in the middle and then the second yellow lights up below.

You may well be right, but I always thought that the most restrictive aspect is placed as close to drivers eye level as possible? Obviously the Red is in the middle to break up the two Yellows but I'd expect the single Yellow and double Yellow to work like any other signal?
