RST and Metrolink

Hi Folks, newbie here.

I recently read that any rail ticket from a Greater Manchester station into the Manchester City Zone allows the ticket holder unlimited travel in Zone 1 on the Metrolink - basically as long as the destination says 'MCZ' you can travel free in Zone 1.
I recently bought a ticket using RST Priv travel and it said MCZ so my question is am I allowed to travel on the Metrolink in zone 1 even though I bought my rail ticket through RST?
