I have asked ATOC how I am supposed to know if a route will be called an anomaly or not? I raised my London to Glasgow example as they recommended using nationalrail.co.uk (which we all know to be fab!) and so I did and it allowed London Liv Street-London Kings Cross-Edinburgh-Dundee-Glasgow and the Dundee bit adds almost 100 miles! Obviously valid using the maps but surely an anomaly! It also allwed KX-Peterborough-Nuneaton-Glasgow. Some may say reasonable but thats the whole question. Is Edinburgh to glasgow via Dundee any less reasonable than Woking to Slough via Bath which they now class as an anomaly.
Passenger Focus have also asked for clarification in response to ATOC telling me that the online guide is wrong and only the station one is right!
I am not giving up here and SWT have been noticeable by their silence. I will call them on Monday.
I also asked passenger focus to confirm if changes to the guide have to be dfT approved and if they do could they clarify how removing Exeter from my route doesn't cause me undue hardship as it'll dramatically increase my fare and reduce journey opportunities!
I don't want a war though I just want justice and a guide we can all follow and use (oh and a very public apology from Salisbury, which I will seek next time I pass!!!!). Till I get all that I'll keep on going and take any further help and advice.
Can I suggest we log somewhere all the wierd routes nationalrail approves and so we can use that as evidence? Also, could we somehow group together all current challenges to the guide or requests for info so we can combine all info into one for us all to use as the more evidence the better.
