Hmm, "9 hours" would appear to be some kind of default setting for "infrequent".
Looking at somewhere where I am reasonably familiar with the bus services (Southend Central), I see that routes described as operating "every 9 hours" are, variously:
Sundays only (every two hours);
Mon-Fri only (approx. every 2 hours);
school services (one or two in each direction Mon-Fri schooldays only);
once daily (the inexpicable NatEx service that meanders slowly from Southend to Liverpool seemingly via most of England on the way);
Mon-Fri limited peak-hour service;
hourly between the peaks on Thursdays only; and
a few journeys at hourly intervals on Saturday evenings only.
In fact the SOC list omits the main (most frequent, fastest) service to Chelmsford, and includes "Newcastle Town Centre" as a destination (when it means Newcastle-under-Lyme - that NatEx route to Liverpool again); and Liverpool itself is in fact omitted from the list of destinations, as is, more inexplicably, Stansted Airport. Some of the other frequencies look fairly dodgy too.
So, big fail, I'm afraid; the former presentation of "lines" indicating exactly the frequency of routes at different times of the day and different days of the week was far more helpful than this. At least under the old order one could see at a glance which services operated in the evenings, or at weekends, or so on, as well as see when they were more or less frequent.
