Travelling on the Roma Lido railway last week made me think:

1. Why is the same type of stock used as on Underground services in Rome. Is it just economies of scale with ATAC operating the Roma Lido railway?

2. Considering the same type of stock is used as on Underground services, has there ever been a plan to extend services beyond Roma Porta San Paolo on the Metro line B/B1?
