Well it's coffin stock so that puts an end to that. Plus it's a 47 and they don't generally make much noise.

Keep the head in and enjoy the warmth, scenery and atmosphere is my advice.

The tour is booked to run via Crewe, Bescot and Stechford.

From the tour booklet:

Please do not, under any circumstances, put any part of your body out of the window, in particular hands and arms, when the train is moving.

It's a silly question. If the answer was to be "yes" what do you think Network Rail would say? Honestly...!

If you want to stand next to an open window, I don't think that will present a problem at all, but if you stick a head out then you are disobeying standard safety instructions that no railtour operator can possibly waive. In any case, the guard is responsible for the safety of the train, not the promoter, and the guard will be provided by the operator DB Schenker.

Also some people think that holding a cigarette out of an open window counts as not smoking inside the train, they are wrong and this is very inconsiderate (not suggesting you were thinking of doing that but while on the subject of windows I thought it was worth a mention!)

Thanks to all on the tour! I thorougly enjoyed being a steward! First time and everything went smoothly! Hope the 47 group had a fantastic time and I have to admit 47580 really does sound good, us lot on the ECS got some lovely thrash up to Hambleton and Doncaster then Barrow Hill! Bring on the next tour!

I'd also like to thank all of those concerned with this very enjoyable tour.

I think the cask ale buffet trolley in particular showed excellent level of innovation in customer service that the wider railway should learn from :D

It's a great job, ain't it! I had a load of wrecked pensioners 4 hours into my first tour!

Lucky, sounds like it's up to the standards of the Raffle on our tours.
