GreenGauge's Eastern Arm report seemed to me to have a little of the flavour of HighSpeed UK proposals that originally emerged to rival the HS2 proposal. Not in terms of the network shape as a whole, admittedly, but I do feel that they have incorporated some of the better design principles from that failed scheme into the HS2 masterplan.
