Replacement bus journey length to Scotland

Has anyone used the buses between Lockerbie and Edinburgh during the Lamington disruption? If so, how long do they take on average?

Im booked on the 06:43 Wigan-Edinburgh TPE service to Edinburgh, and then travelling onto Inverness and Wick. As things stand by the times TPE are saying, I'll miss the train to Inverness from Edinburgh by nearly 20 minutes and also the Far North Line connection.

Is there any hope the bus may arrive earlier? If not, is there any chance I'd be allowed to use the Caledonian Sleeper the night before?

Were you hoping to catch the 1036 from Edinburgh to Inverness ? There is a later departure at 1336 ; this gets into Inverness at 1654 which allows you ample time to board the 1828 to Wick. I'm sure Scotrail will allow you to travel on the later trains due to your original delay.

I would ask if you can get a later train from Wigan to reduce the long connection time.

I haven't done the bus but did drove it on Tuesday.

Abington to Leith took 1h 20m. Lockerbie is about another 25 mins down the road from Abington so factoring in the time for the bus to get into the city centre and Waverley I reckon it would be about two hours end to end on the bus.

Yes, the Scotrail ticket is an anytime day single so that won't be an issue.

If you make the 1136 from Edinburgh to Perth, you can arrive at Inverness earlier at 1523 by changing to the 1313 at Perth

TransPennine do not offer Delay Repay unfortunately. That doesn't mean you won't receive a goodwill gesture from them too of course.
