Not to mention the limited platform length at Moorgate.I thought that curve was too tight to take anything longer than a 4-wheeled van?
To accommodate EMR Connect trains needing to terminate at Moorgate, travelling in via Blackfriars. Or something like that? What problem is this solution intended to address?
What's wrong with them terminating at City Thameslink? To dive further into fantasy, if the original curve from Barbican in the direction of Blackfriars could be reinstated (which I think would require the demolition of the Grade II listed Smithfield poultry market) that would allow trains from the south to be terminated in the event of disruption or engineering works.
Or in the bay platforms at Blackfriars!
Why does EMR Connect need to terminate at Moorgate? To accommodate EMR Connect trains needing to terminate at Moorgate, travelling in via Blackfriars. Or something like that?![]()
That's a question for the OP (= @waterboo), I would suggest! Why does EMR Connect need to terminate at Moorgate?
According to the OP:Why does EMR Connect need to terminate at Moorgate?
as a means to alleviate platform capacity at St Pancras High Level
Probably clearances between track and tunnel wall and between tracks probably rather than curvature although that would have to be partly taken into account but as the tunnel has been utterly obliterated, I would think this point would be moot. I saw a picture years ago of the poultry market being rebuilt and you could see where they had cut through the tunnel to create the undercroft.I thought that curve was too tight to take anything longer than a 4-wheeled van?
I wonder whether they could operate a rail tour with old stock just between the 2 stations? Is there anything useful that could be done with the Moorgate and Barbican platforms?
