More our of curiosity than anything....I was refused fip discount in Germany about 2 weeks ago. It was a Sunday, cologne.

Not speaking enough German and she didn't speak any English so I couldn't understand. I dashed for my train and forgot about it.

Any ideas?

For which train? Route, date, departure time.

Without more detail it's difficult to advise but don't forget most(some/all?) city region/PTE areas in Germany operate their own fares structure so FIP discounts aren't applicable for local journeys in those areas. Istr last time I went to Köln that was the case.

And some are massive and even cross borders, e.g. Dortmund-Venlo is VRR tariff unless you use an IC or ICE along the way. Similary Cottbus-Wittenberge is VBB.
