reading to slough tkt

i was reading in the new issue of railtalk on page 21 that someone says its ok to buy a tkt from reading to slough and go via bristol or exeter think thats wrong big time

Not according to the routing guide.

I strongly suspect that the article in the magazine is based off a thread on these forums, which I will just go and find...

Twas me, although Yorkie got the start point wrong in his article. An update would be that ATOC fixed the guide to remove Exeter, and Bristol will be gone shortly. Finally after 2 months, and major assistance from Passenger Focus, ATOC (not SWT who still refuse to admit any fault at all and still insist all staff were correct and that the routing guide should match their interpretation of it) have agreed to refund me to bring closure to the situation. SWT blew me off and still insist there is only one valid route even though that route is invalid by the guide currently. I will go on record also and say that the gentlemen I've dealt with at ATOC has both admitted the "anomally" and tried to make things right and it's only SWT that have refused to budge. Also SWT have refused to correct their staff's view that off peak outward journeys cannot be broken in any situation even tho that is also wrong. Anyway thanks to Yorkie, Glynn and others for their assistance in resolving this.

Sorry - big mistake there and I can't believe I nor any of the proof readers spotted it (any volunteers to become proof readers? ) I did, of course, mean Woking to Slough. I have no idea why I typed Reading.

Slough to Reading is only permitted on map WR, or via the shortest route, which in this case is the same thing!

No worries. I agree with the other poster that it's a great mag and I appreciate you at least raising the issue even if Woking became Reading. At least it gave us all a reason to smile which is always nice. Thanks!
