Can someone please tell me why UK railtours are cancelling so many of their tours. The Railway Touring Company organise and run a great number of trips, both days out and holidays with far fewer problems.

Which tours do you mean, by "So many"?

I can't see historical tour info, via the two sources I use; so I only see 11-April's The Not Holyhead, cancelled due to (afaik) 50 008 recently suffering a technical fault and 50 007 not yet being released from its scheduled maintenance; and the tour had an operating requirement for two locos.

Which other UK Railtours examples have you seen cancelled in recent months?

South Wales Industrial Explorer was cancelled for the same reason as The Not Holyhead.

Thanks.

The two 50s were, to the best of my knowledge, planned for 14-March's tour, so cancelled for same reason as post 2.

25-April's.cancellation, what I've found in public domain, was due to a subsequent change in GCR Diesel Gala's operations and pathing plans for that day. It sounds out of UK Railtours' control.
Perhaps this best confirmed by a forum-reader close to that topic.

It’s seems a shame that the Romic HST set could not have been used instead rather than cancelling the entire trip. Great trip in January using the set. Nothing since. Very sad.

I'm sure the 50 bashers would have been delighted when an HST rolled in instead!

I would have thought something is better than nothing. If hotels have been pre-booked and travel arrangements made and paid for at least people still get a day out. Good for the organisers, the passengers still cover the same track and friendships are made along with memories. At least on the train all is right with the world, if only for a few hours.
