Quick underground contactless question

I used the underground a couple of times yesterday.

King’s Cross to Moorgate and then later from Bank to Kings Cross

Used contactless for both journeys using the same credit card

I can see on my pending charges on my credit card two separate £6 charges to TFL

There should only be one shouldn’t there?

There could be several reasons:
1. You either didn’t tap in and out correctly
2. You may have stayed in the network longer than a typical journey between the stations would usually take, therefore, the system will then charge you for 2 journeys.
3. You may have used your contactless and then your physical card later which will charge you twice. This can also happen if your bank card is placed by your phone.

If it is pending, then it hasn’t charged you yet. Allow 24 hours and it may correct itself.

Either way you can easily request a refund on the tfl website.

The easiest way to sort this is to go to https://contactless.tfl.gov.uk/. From there you can either create an account and register your credit card, or use the '7 day contactless journey and payment history', which will show you the taps recorded, which journeys they have been translated into.

If you can see any missing taps or the like you will need to register your card, and then you will either be able to add the missing tap or fill in a form which will be sent to TfL Customer service and they will sort you for it (Which option depends on a number of factors).

If you have any issues or don't understand what's happened after viewing it please post a copy of the journey history here and someone will be able to give further advice.

I’ve logged in to that tfl site and it’s showing the two journeys correctly on my card and that overall charge will be £6

I assume therefore that only one of the two pending £6 charges I can see on my banking app will actually clear

Yes if it's doing that I would just keep an eye on it and come back to if both charges clear. TfL won't be able to sort it unless they both do.
