Question on this route at Chester

Hello so I was just looking at my local station Chester and noticed that there was Llandudno service to Cardiff Central approaching and thought nothing of it, but then I looked at the route and it really confused me. It goes via Crewe to Cardiff Central via the Cwmbran line and I've just never seen this route before so I would like the experts here to share some insight on it please. I'm interested in trains and stuff but I am still quite new so not familiar with everything yet so please forgive my ignorance if this is normal. Thank you

Not unique. Whilst most take the Wrexham route the 2115 Cardiff to Chester also travels via Crewe See here

There are a few quirky TfW services - 2108 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly which essentially combines a Brum International to Chester via Shrewsbury and Wrexham and Chester to Man Picc via Warrington service together. Takes just over three hours to complete a journey which can be done in around an hour and 45 minutes on Cross Country taking the usual direct route.

ahh it was the fact it goes via crewe that confused me, my bad on that
