Magic, thank you - the discovery journey continues! I always thought I'd be happy with something similar but as soon as I set to it, I figured I should get it right if things cost this much... Cheap it is not these days as a hobby; I bought a Class 4MT for £65 new about 20 years ago - oh how things change!
Yeah. I got my Lord Nelson for £45 and they were around £60 new (mid 90s) so they've held some of their value. It's certainly not cheap but therecare bargains to be had. If you look in model shops they sometimes have 'New' old stock that's been sitting in the store room and perhaps forgotten about and there's nothing wrong with them plus they're in mint condition. The N1 class moguls from Bachmann are a good example especially when listed as split chassis (they're not). Same with coaches, last week I picked up 2 mk2Ds one Airfix and one Mainline (they used the same tooling) for £28 each although they were the rarer TSO rather then the First Class and Brakes you find everywhere.
