Reading the Grauniad article, I see that although Radios 1, 2 and 4 have their schedules altered, Radio 3 doesn’t, although I would expect there to be a lot of scrutinising of which pieces are played. It is also the Last Night of the Proms, that celebratory ‘Festival of Britishness’, this weekend, which is going to create a dilemma: cancel, radically alter or continue as near normal.

One of the pieces due to be performed at the last night of the proms is an overture by Doreen Carwithen called ODTAA (One Damn Thing After Another). We will see if that survives!

Witchell rabbiting on with nothing new to tell us — so why has the BBC given up on the 6 o'clock news when all their reporters can do at Balmoral is stand at the gates and watch? BBC1 seems to be going overboard on a royal story once again just as with Philip, the Queen Mother, Diana, and so on backwards? How many of us remember the reporting of the death, lying-in-state, and funeral of George VI?

Witchell will have plenty of time to get changed once an announcement is made. Protocol calls for the announcement to be read (twice?), followed by the national anthem, and then there'll be a few minutes of prepared reports detailing the lift of the Queen.

Whoever's presenting though needs to be ready to go at a moments notice if the Palace do what they did last time and announce it themselves.

While I was playing for Todmorden Orchestra, one of our horn players died suddenly just before a concert. We cancelled the first item, Gounod's "Funeral March of a Marionette". So yes I expect the the Doreen Carwithen piece will be binned.

If it weren't just a matter of waiting for an official announcement, I feel they'd have at least quickly cycled through the other headlines or even gone to the weather, to give them a break. They can't keep this up indefinitely. As said up thread, I imagine they're just waiting for Harry to join them?

Like many others, I thought she had already passed away and a statement would come after the family had been there. However this length of delay suggests otherwise, is she still with us, or are there still some family members to arrive (Harry?), although against that is the lack of medical updates.

Because he is in Europe and it's his grandmother. Events over the last 3-4 years doesn't change that fact.
