The NYMR is busy today, there’s numerous European languages being spoken and there’s a coach trip of Chinese tourists at Grosmont currently.

Yes for most railways that will I think be the case. For those in more touristy areas I would think the demographic will also reflect that of visitors to the area. That will differ quite considerably for those railways with the Lakeside and Haverthwaite having more international visitors than say the North Norfolk!

Overall we should not loose sight of the fact that despite some in the media and elsewhere talking of mass immigration the makeup of the UK population remains more than 80% white and so in most locations that will be reflected in the makeup of the visitor/user demographic for everything not just preserved railways
