An advanced warning that there could be weather related disruption around the North West, particularly the WCML and around Cumbria, for Tuesday the 10th of January.

Current models show around 9-10 hours of heavy and persistent rain over the region. 60-80mm expected in the worst affected areas. With the ground already very much saturated, there really isn’t much more rain it can take.

This is likely to change over the coming days but here is what the forecast looks like for Tuesday at the time of posting - heavy rain over much of the region at 12:00 midday.

Other areas at risk include parts of the South West, Wales and the Western side of Scotland.

Flooding causing cancellation of local services and delays to the semi fasts in Garswood between Wigan North Western and Liverpool Lime St currently. Pretty much a 5mph run from Garswood to Gerards Bridge. (Images show this location)

To add the WCML North of Preston doesn't seem to be doing well at all with delays up to the 90 minute mark.
