In the Czech capital the popular and much loved funicular to the summit of Petrin hill and the namesake lookout tower there has re-opened earlier this week, replete with sleek new cars built in Switzerland. Previously it was closed for the last two years, for the major rebuilding.
The funicular now runs daily from 7:00 to 22:15 and the interval is every 10 mins. As the line is popular with locals and tourists alike, there can be waits up to 20 or 30 minutes from the bottom station Ujezd, but typically not from the summit station Petrin. So it is recommended to travel early or late, off peak! The whole funicular originally opened in 1891, as did the "Mini Eiffel Tower" Petrin lookout tower at the summit.
