In 1934, our founder Allen Lane decided to start Penguin Books after he couldn’t find anything to read at Exeter St Davids train station. Almost 90 years later, you can now pick up a book for your travels from the Penguin Books vending machine at that same historic location.

With the help of our partners at Graddon vending, we’re going to add one more book vending machine at another station in the UK, and we need your help deciding where.

I'm not aware of the second one ever happening

I'd love to see more of these! I still have 'The Bridges at Toko-Ri' by James A Michener (rubbish) and 'Modern Buildings in London' by Ian Nairn (excellent) that I bought from book vending machines on Underground station platforms in the 1960s.
