This week I have recently received a penalty fare which I paid on the spot for not having a valid ticket for my journey. It was issued by a revenue officer at one of the London Midland stations in Birmingham.

Before got issued the penalty fare. The revenue officer ask me which station I got on. I gave him incorrect details which the revenue officer knew the station was manned. Then I finally was honest to him about the station I got on. He informed me that London Midland can take me to court for lying. I gave him correct personal details. He then issued me a penalty fare which I paid on the spot.

This is my first offence and never been in trouble with the law before. It was out of character.

So need advice of this. Can London Midland take it further of me lying about the station I got on or was the penalty fare end of the case?

Thanks

That should be the end of the matter.

You have committed criminal offences by not having a ticket for your journey and not giving your correct name and address. If you have read the posts in this forum you will now know, no doubt, how serious this could have become. Not to mention expensive.

Be assured that your details will now be held by London Midland and that you may not expect lenient treatment if this happens again.

Lesson learnt, I hope.

I gave them correct personal details of my name and address.

Only incorrect details were the journey details which I corrected when revenue officer knew I was lying. He then informed me. London Midland can take me to court for lying. Guess it was a warning. He did not caution me. He then issued me a penalty fare and hope it's the end of it.

For the record the OP claimed they gave their correct name and address!

I gave them correct personal details of my name and address.

That wasn't very clear from the initial post (quoted below): incorrect details is usually associated with personal details. Wrong or incorrect station would have been a lot clearer.

Yeah, take it as a warning. If he's issued you the Penalty Fare for not having a valid ticket, and you've paid it, then it is normally the end of the matter. You have paid the fare due- the Penalty Fare.

If you have received a Penalty Fare and paid it in full then that is almost always the end of the matter.
