There was also a PMT service that went to sheffield (from Stoke perhaps)?
The X23 - I can't remember seeing "Badger" liveried buses on it (Potteries Motor Transport were bought by Badgerline about twenty years ago), but I do recall seeing the exotic FirstBus branding on X23 buses a year or two before they became commonplace in South Yorkshire with the purchase of Mainline.
The X23 was later renumbered X18 (to fit in with other Hanley - Leek services?), then split into the 118 (Hanley - Buxton) and 218 (Buxton - Sheffield).
The 218 survives today as a TM Travel service from Sheffield to Bakewell, but runs onto Matlock instead (replacing the 214).
There was an hourly service run by Richardsons Travel from Sheffield to Manchester Airport in the late 80s. It just wasn't used enough and expired after a few years. The Ribble/SYT service was never more than three a day.
SYT maintained the hourly service when taking it over from Richardsons around twenty years ago. Didn't last long, can't be sure when though.
