Just reminiscing back to my youth.......

We did a Bristol Temple Meads - Scarborough excursion that actually went through the back end of Toton yard.

Imagine my happiness as a teenage trainspotter struggling to write down the numbers of the rows and rows of Class 20 locos parked up.

Do passenger trains go via Toton these days or was I just fortunate to have enjoyed a one-off?

I don't think there are any booked services but it is used a diversion route if there is engineering works

I remember when all passenger services from Langley Mill to Nottingham went through Toton, before the shorter route which turns off at Trowell Junction re open after being closed for several years after an accident involving a freight train (This is from my memory as a very young kid and im struggling to find anything about it online, so any help with some info would be great)

As a young train enthusiast it was one hell of a sight going through there, and id love to have a regular service still running through there, but sadly there isn't any.

The last time I managed it was a couple of years back on a Cross Country service from Edinburgh to Derby which got diverted down the Erewash Line and through Toton to Derby due to an accident between Chesterfield and Derby, sadly it was dark!

I've been through Toton a fair few times on diverted HSTs over the past 5 years or so. Some have been straight runs though, although a diversion I did last year involved going from Nottingham to Trowell Jn, reversing there and going through Toton to E M Parkway, and one earlier this year in which I went from Derby, up into the centre of Toton, reversed opposite the lines of stored 60s and went over the flyover above the line to Nottingham and down to E M Parkway.
