Paris-Munich NightJet

Hello all, I am off to Germany by train in early November: Eurostar to Paris (booked) then hoping to take the 19:12 NightJet service from Gare de l'Est to Munich Hbf.

Does anyone know when tickets are likely to go on sale for the 19:12 departure ? Various sites are stating 180 days but we're well within that now.

The OEBB site has the service marked as Currently not reservable" with a note stating "Due to construction work or missing timetable information, it is currently not possible to book a reservation for this train. It is not yet possible to predict when the information will be available. Therefore, please check at regular intervals whether your connection can already be reserved."

Any further info would be appreciated

And subject to diversion because of long-term engineering work between Munich and Salzburg - which sends them via Passau

It's *up to* 180 days, and 180 days is not for all Nightjets. Vienna-Paris/Brussels is often around 90 days. You can easily see on nightjet.com until when reservations are possible.

My recommendation: Plan your trip away from this Nightjet service - avoid at all costs !

Do you absolutely have to be in Munich the following morning? Or is it simply a sleeper adventure?

That far ahead it’s never known whether engineering work will badly affect it. There is always a small chance it doesn’t run to Paris on that date if a suitable path can’t be found. It is risky to depend on it 5 months ahead.

Whenever I have planned European rail journeys that far out that rely on a sleeper, all my hotels are free cancellation/amendments via booking.com just as an insurance policy.

Numerous things can go wrong with ÖBB Nightjet from Paris.
1) The trains the previous night only made it to Strasbourg. -> that means you need to scramble to find a seat on Paris-Strasbourg Inoui train.
2) The train is cancelled altogether.
3) The train will skip Munich.
4) Your booked accomodation is not available on the train. -> you are downgraded or just left behind.
