I"m spending 2 hours at Oxford tomorrow as I'm on the Capital Deltic Mini Tour, what traction and rolling stock can I expect to see?

Also, is there any chance of a Class 70 being in the area?

As far as I'm aware, no 70s come through Oxford. In terms of freight, about all that goes through is 66-hauled (sigh ). In terms of passenger trains, 165s/166s and HSTs from FGW, and Voyagers from XC.

There's always a good chance of something unusual and interesting coming through though, what with it being on an important cross-country route.

EWS (sic) and FL 66s mostly on freights, other than that pretty much just 165s, 166s, GW HSTs and Voyagers on XC jobs.

The Capital Deltic mini-tour is the most exciting thing running over that way this weekend by the appearance of things I'm afraid!

They seem to be in use a lot on the eastern side of the universe (ie, Anglia), as well as hauling coal up the Marches to Rugeley fairly regularly. They also used to be seen sitting around at Stoke Gifford doing nothing, however that seems to have changed.

I also see they do stuff to/from Fiddlers Ferry fairly regularly now.

The only class 70 that I am aware of in East Anglia is the one that does 4L69 / 4M93 between Lawley Street and Felixstowe, invariably 70001.
