Oops...!!

I don't have a model railway and never did. I might ocassionally drift away into a parallel world in which I have one, but it's all just dreams. However, none of this seems to prevent me from buying trains from time to time for abortive projects that never materialise into anything at all. I blame eBay for having so many interesting items for sale.

I've just gone and fallen into the trap yet again. Last time it was a 3 car TPE Grafar Cl158 for an aborted "forced perspective" experiment that never happened (the unit never even came out of the box). This time it's a DC Kits Cl308 EMU.

I can at least console myself that it is the basic kit and has been puchased at a saving compared to getting it direct, but WTF am I going to do with it when it arrives...?! I suppose I could always knock it up into a static model with the option to power it later. Otherwise it will join the mounting pile of unmade plastic kits that have been accumulating over the past few years.

Damn you, eBay...!!!

Model railways cost a packet over here, and as such are not as numerous as in the UK.

Still good to have a collection of trains and pop along to a local club and have a run once a week.

Ive got over 30 engines now, really bad

Took delivery of my GNR Atlantic yesterday! need to sort out a few problems on it but it will run really well!

I thought you were talking 00 gauge, 960012. Beautiful pictures. I assume they were from the GCR near Chertsey. If so, I remember going as a boy to the Greywood Central Railway, when the lines and stock were all in a private garden in Burwood Park. Those were the days!

Either way the Ivatt Atlantic was a lovely locomotive, I wish I could remember the real thing. But I'm sure I remember one at Greywood, as I'm an avid LNER fan. I could only have been about 12 or so, but we used to turn up at Greywood on Sunday afternoons, which was open day, and the railway owners used to offer free rides to all comers. A continuous run, must have been 3 times round the garden, on different levels, finishing either in the centre of the garden by the engine sheds, or down the side of the house. Then back round 3 more different circuits to the main station, get ice creams and queue again for another go! Wonderful setup.
I haven't any photos in my possession, but I shall ask my sister. I do have stored away a small booklet of the layout - give me time and I'll see if I can dig it out. Im sure I can remember a Gresley Pacific from those times, and shortly before Greywood moved on I'm sure some chap came along with a 7 - 1/4" Deltic, which we all used to wait for 'cos it was fast!

The railway must have rivalled many 00 gauge indoor layouts for sheer size and apparently endless variations in the paths a train could take. I think I cried when it finally disappeared soon after the owner died.
Yes, I would love to pop over to see the GCR! I'm ashamed to say that although I don't live far I've never actually made the time for it, so I shall soon put that right. When are your opening times please?

The S15 is a lovely engine, Nice deep bark to it!

Our opening times are Every Sunday Between May and October trains run from 14:00 till 17:30, We are also open Wednesday, on one of these im hoping to plan another forum meet with guys off of here, like last year but i need to see what is happening about my family holiday first!

Yes, i should be at Acton, maybe with my little steam loco, not sure yet though.

I learnt on the S15, was a hard engine to drive, the depth of the grate has since been improved and it steam alot better!
