Iam trying to find out what has happened to a Compny called Wigan Bus Ltd from Wigan it seemed to operate quite a number of Plaxton MPD s arrouiind the Wigan area on Varuious GMPTE contract work though I have not seen any of his buses arround recently and am now wondering iof this comapny has now ceased trading which knowing this comanies past does not surprise me at all.

No. It's notoriously out of date.

Having now looked at the link, I would say "patchy". Bu-Val (who went out of business in May) are not listed, but David Tanner Travel is listed despite having gone out of business in 2005 !!

I think Wigan Coachways (Formerly Hurst's) have swallowed them up. They have a depot on Miry lane (Near the Wigan - Kirkby Railway bridge next to the Peugeot dealership) and a few of their old buses can be seen in there.

Glad to be of help....the full company name is WIGAN BUSES LIMITED.

They are currently operating the bi-directional Wigan area services 638/639 that runs via Pemberton - Wrightington Hospital - Standish - Wigan Bus Station, This service serves both Gathurst and Appley Bridge stations on its route. The latest timetable is dated 3rd May 2011 and has the new TfGM logo at the foot of the timetable.

They are currently operating from the Kirkless Industrial Estate near Cale Lane in New Springs, Wigan.

I did mange to see one there orange Pointer Darts the other day so I see they are still in Buisness which still suprises me with it beingformed from the Old Spingfeild coaches plus aso there seems to be a new Operatore in the Wiagn / GMPTE area Maytree Travel largley formed of Optare Solos plus one Rather Short SLF Vechicle with a wrights Body.

Maytree Travel was formed from the Bolton area operations of Tyrers of Burnley, a couple of years ago
