old vintage lantern

Hi , can anyone help regarding this old lantern , really want to know the age make and what it could of been used for ,it has what's appears D1668 stamped on the front , i have added 6 photos of it.

If you wish to get it working, it is very important you try out the paraffin reservoir for leaks by filling with paraffin out of doors first. Paraffin, due to it's lower 'surface tension' will find small pinhole leaks that water doesn't - such small leaks must be stopped to prevent leakages inside the lamp which can then ignite if the lamp is in use....
