believe me you don't wanna go NVR. Nice to the public, but having worked there as a member i can tell you it's run by the friggin diesel group to thew detriment of everything else there.

Much better than being run by the steam cranks IMO. Paint all diesels green blah blah. But a railway should be run with both types of traction in mind.

(Not wanting to start an arguement, just my opinion)

Who on earth are you? Its all the steam heads that are wrecking the place! Not forgetting the huge numbers of people that turn up to our galas, run by the 'friggin diesel group'. Think about what you say.

yes, the problem is that that's the only gala that gets much attendance, thomas' birthday and rail mail aside. For instance:

'steam gala' this year was 3 engines
the 2006 model railway show was the busiest day of the year-the model railway group then got kicked out.
City of Peterborough is being massively overworked, Mayflower & 92 Squadron have been kicked off.

Steam is a bigger draw than diesel, in general. But at the moment NVR has 1 single railway-owned steam loco (Thomas) which manages 1 full-line trip a year.

i agree that the situation is crap, but its the 37518 group that got mayflower 'removed' and the other stupid situations. City of peterborough springs to mind

You don't half talk some nonsense. There is no "37518 Group". It is owned by an individual.

Mayflower was not 'removed' by anyone connected with 37518, it was due to circumstances surrounding Mr Boden Snr.

On the combination with the bucket, I shared the front window with Aureol, Brooksie and others :)
And I was about falling asleep  Not because of the lack of thrash, but because I had literally no sleep the night before.

Anyway, I'm hoping to make this gala, once again with Jack, Brooksie and co. And it's my birthday on the Thursday before the gala, so I expect beer, pressies, money and a free ticket :p

A Bit more info for this event as posted on the Preserved - Diesels forum:

Just to let everyone know that everything ( at the moment ) is running smoothly regarding the Gala in 9 days time .....

The road haulage has been booked for the visiting locos and the timetable has been drawn up and will be posted shortly once the loco roster has been sorted.

The Embsay Class 107 still hasn't arrived so the line's 3 car Class 117 will be used.....as a hauled set again by popular request ! We apologise in advance as it may get a little overcrowded at times.

The shuttle between Peterboro & Orton Mere will be top 'n' tail Class 14s on one coach vice DMU !

Only one set of continentals out , the other set being the Mk1s giving altogether 18 departures on Saturday and 16 departures on Sunday to Peterboro !

Two beerexes on Sat evening on the Mk 1s

As mentioned previously , the line-up reads :

D9516 , D9520 , D9523 , 20069 , 25057 , 31271 , 37518 , 40106 , 47270 , 56312 , 667xx , 73136.

More gen soon ! Cheers

If you have talked to him recently then you will know the the story.

37518 was MEGA HELLFIRE, More hellfire than EWS 37s!
20096 was mega loud, and a lot of thrash from that (especially 1730 Wansford-PBONVR)
the 37+31 combo was wicked!
I was pleased to see the 40 was being driven properly by its owner!

and also I finally scratched off my last 66/7 8)

I can't wait for the next diesel gala in March! Bring it on!!!!
