This thread is for those of you who live in Nottinghamshire and are in favour of Net Phase 2 tram extension project as a vital project to reduce pollution and improve the sustainability of the Nottingham area.

The Net phase 2 has been approved by Central Government and the City Council are keen to get moving. however there appears to be some heal dragging on the part of the County Council with regards County owned land adjacent to Cator Lane required for the tram, it appears that this has led to the City Council having to engage a tortuous process of compulsary purchase (presumably at the expense of payers of council tax /workplace parking levy) to secure the land. Nottingham City Council has already aloocated a new open space nearby to replace that which will be used for the tram.
see www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/netphase2/index.aspx?articleid=8838

This all seems a bit ironic given the County Council are played the 'no council tax increases' card very heavily in the last local election campaign.

If you support the tram extension project and live inNottinghamshire I would very strongly urge you to write to your nottinghamshire county councillor expressing support and questioning the county councils actions over land required for the project.

find your councillor here:

I have contacted my own councillor & he was very supportive - lobbying does work!

Please pass this onto other related contacts / networks.

Thanks, Brian Goss
