Just thought I’d mention that the Northern Rail Replacement Bus situation at Huddersfield this evening is an utter farce.

How hard can it be for Northern to organise a simple this bus is for Halifax, this one is for Brighouse, this is the one to Stalybridge etc.

I wanted to catch the 19.08 RRB service to Brighouse, to then catch the train back home.

Sadly, 19.08 came and went and it was 19.35 before we were told to board a coach. Only for us then to find out we had been told to board the wrong coach with the driver insisting he was booked to take passengers from Huddersfield to Sheffield and not Brighouse.

I've only just got home a good 90 minutes after I was supposed to. In 2025 this really shouldn't be happening.

According to Realtime Trains the only ‘Northern’ buses were to Lockwood. (Brighouse was listed as ‘TransPennine’, along with Stalybridge, etc.)

Interesting.

The person who told us to board the bus was definitely a Northern member of staff.

It was pretty chaotic at the time but you'd think they would send people on the correct buses.

It is likely the person was a member of Arriva rail replacement staff wearing a Northern badged tabard.

What wouldn't have helped is that on top of the normal Replacement Buses I think additional ones might have had to be drafted in to run the Huddersfield to Sheffield service due to a points problem (I think it was) at Stocksbridge although might be wrong.
