At the beginning of December 2024, I was randomly stopped by revenue protection for Southwestern Rail and caught short-faring (which I had been doing for around a month) and given an MG11 and told I would be contacted. I am eager to cooperate and would be happy to pay any settlement if offered one.
However, over 12 weeks have passed since then, and I have not received anything further from them. Whilst I am aware they have up to 6 months to take action, from what I understand this is far longer than it would usually take to be contacted. I am unsure if in this instance whether to contact them to check I haven't missed anything/nothing has been lost in the post, to avoid the matter escalating anymore than necessary, or whether to just wait?

It is indeed longer than usual, but it is rarely useful to contact the train company as to do so may put you back on their radar when they had either forgotten about you or decided not to take matters further.

were you reasonably confident they took an accurate postal address for you? (eg was any ID you gave them showing correct postal address) also make sure you have checked e-mail and spam (including any e-mail address linked to your ticket buying account if that e-mail is different)

The address on the MG11 is correct and I recall them taking the correct address at the time. I also have not received any emails, spam or otherwise to any email.

This is what I thought, but wanted to check that either of those were at all possible to have happened. I will keep my eye out just in case regardless. Thank you.

SWR do seem to take longer to write to people than other train companies. I suspect this is because they seem to search online ticket purchasing accounts before getting in touch.
