Joining in with everybody else just to say this is a great map simple, clear and easy to use and is very useful to look at when posts are talking about arears im not familiar with.

Fantastic to see. Look forward to Scotland when you get there, but greatly appreciate all the work you’ve done so far.

Just Scotland to go, I imagine Glasgow will also be an interesting challenge for you.

What are your hundreds of other maps? I may find some of them interesting.

I would be interested as well.

Is the aim of this atlas largely to map out passenger routes and stations? No mention, for example of Whatley Quarry or the Torr Works at Merehead. No mention either, of Southampton Maritime Container Terminal or East Midlands Gateway. There are countless more key freight facility omissions from the atlas.

Maybe these are for another year?

I think it is mainly passenger but I certainly would not complain if freight was added because when freight sites are mentioned it can be a bit of a faff finding them on online maps if they dont have the place they are at mentioned in their corporate name.

This is a brilliant map. Looking at the Atlas it makes you realise why so many lines had to close. Lots of duplication of routes and branch lines to the middle of nowhere.

Brilliant! It's my go-to atlas for railway reference on my phone and tablet, so it's great to see it completed. (I won't add "at last", since I'm sure there's a huge amount of work involved in extending and updating it). Many thanks to its creator and owner for making it available.

Many thanks to Doctor Fegg for completing Scotland! Now I can see clearly what people mean when they are discussing the Scottish rail network, about whose layout I've always been a little hazy. For sure other maps exist, but none of them are so clear or convenient. I usually have a New Adlestrop window open all the time to check this or that, and it's wonderful to have the whole mainland covered.

Yes it's really quite dramatic isn't it quite how much Scotland lost and this is a really clear visiual representation of that. I suspect the island of Ireland would look similar (perhaps the next project @Doctor Fegg ).

I would be very grateful to hear your comments, corrections and suggestions by email. Please:

• Make sure you include the word "Adlestrop" in your email (not just "your map" - I make lots of maps!)
• Don't send messages via social networking (otherwise I can't keep track of them)
• Don't tell me about missing stations in London (as mentioned above, the map doesn't show full detail in the largest urban areas), short-lived stations, or lines that didn't carry passengers

If you have difficulties viewing the map, please try another PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe Acrobat or Apple Preview). Some PDF viewers, such as the one built in to Firefox, are not capable of properly viewing a large file like this. Sorry, I can't give technical support on using PDFs.

It certainly is a magnificent piece of work. Sincere thanks to the cartographer. My only problem is being able to increase the magnification sufficiently to see the detail on the screen of an Android tablet, or indeed a phone. Does anyone have any ideas about how to overcome this?

If you've downloaded the PDF file to your device(s), which is my preference, it may be an issue with the default PDF reader. I had this once, when I changed my phone, and the default reader wouldn't enlarge it enough.
In your listing of saved documents (accessed via "my files" or similar), click on the "three dots" menu access command beside the atlas file, click on "open with", and it should give you various options to try. If none of those helps, it might be necessary to download a new reader.
There's no inherent problem with reading it on an Android phone - my elderly Samsung phone will enlarge it to way bigger than I need.
