On my way home last night i noted an NR test train stabled in Blethcley depot. I am also sure that i saw/heard a light engine (a 37 perhaps?) trundle along the Marston Vale (Bedford -Bletchley) line last night around about 2200. Was there a failure and a loco swap?

I was also up very early this morning and could swear the same train was back in the depot this morning.

We had 31105 down the branch the day before with a test train. Is it the same one?

Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

There was a 0Z31 schedule in last night from Bletchley TMD to Derby RTC so I would hazard a guess it was related.

Booked off at 22:00 but left 23 mins early.

Not sure if this was a reaction to a failure though.

The train was stabled there again tonight with a DRS 37 on the back and a DBSO pointing in the London direction

I believe it's the UTU - Ultrasonic test train. It lost some mileage recently on fast lines between Ledburn and MK I believe.
The next recording run on the Bedford - Bletchley is 11/09/13, this is usually the TRU train, the converted 150 unit.

no it was most certainly a DRS37 at one end and a DBSO at the other

The UTU will usually be a class 31 or Class 37.
UTU 3 was recording earlier in the week on the Bletchley - Bedford Line.
Not sure if it was this or not
