I do shift work for network rail as a customer service assistant consisting of 7am-2pm or either one week of 2pm - 10pm or either one week of 10pm - 7am ; (the shift pattern changes every week) how and when is the best time to fit in a gym workout in terms of each shift?

The answer is whatever works best for you! No one except you can answer that surely

with respect you know your body your life style your requirement so this is a wind up a sales or spam call or cant be bothered to use my grey cells and will sponge off others moment :D:D
now if this is a genuine question i suggest there are far more important points in your life that need attention in general excersize is a periferal action that will fit in with your life style rather than how others can dictate how you use your spare time

It will be down to your particular lifestyle. I work fairly similar shifts, but how I work my life around them is different to how other people do. For example, most people struggle to work around nights and love earlies, I hate earlies and love nights. What works for someone with a commute might not work for those without one either. If you have a partner the best times might also depend on their hours. The sort of exercise you want to do will make a big difference too. If you do gym things then there's always the option of 24hr gyms, daylight or working hour activities are a bit more restricted.

I've also worked shifts and agree with the comments above to do what feels best for you because I found people I worked with were all different in how they handled shifts and when they were most active.

Thank you. But I need suggestions what with these shifts when would be people's best time to go for a gym workout.

It really depends on what time your gym is open, any other commitments you might have, and when you feel most alive.

7am-2pm - unless your gym opens early you'll have to go after work. I would personally go straight after work as it will be quieter while other people are working and you'll want an early-ish night to be up the next morning.

2pm - 10pm - again, will probably need to fit around your gyms opening hours and thus be before work. By the time you've got home and relaxed you probably won't be going to bed too early so likely to find just before work better than first thing.

10pm - 7am - more freedom of choice here. If I was a gym-goer I would probably go after work, but most just want to get to sleep before the rest of the world wakes up so you might prefer to go at other times.

If your gym is 24hr you can forget all that and just pick the times that feel best/are quietest.

you are the only person who can answer this! there are lots of gyms open 24 hours a day now. Go when it suits you not when it suits someone else!

I work varying shifts too, in fact I’m just in from one and already lying in bed!

If I’m dayshift I tend to go after work.

Lateshift...I think about going before but in all honesty I can never be bothered. My lates are 1300 - 2300 so it’s just a bit draining.

Nightshifts, I go before, I find it energises me a bit. Yet I’ve a mate who prefers to go after as it helps him sleep. There’s really no right or wrong, it’s what works best for the person.

Try a variety of combinations and see what works best.
