Very unimpressive, though, on a gala weekend, to turn up at Orton Mere to find the ticket office and shop locked up (all day!) - with a message on the chalkboard stating that 'if you want to know the diagrams for the day, ring this number'. I appreciate that rostering sufficient volunteers for the weekend can be a challenge on a preserved railway but, on a gala weekend, they should at least attempt to ensure that each station is manned.
