I am in a signal box, there is a distant signal and four stop signals (1 - 5) in rear. In advance of the box there are also four stop signals (6-9). These signals are all on the main line. Can anyone correctly name all 9 signals? I should also tell you that the track circuited track on the diagram is black in this box.

Black TCs on the diagram, so silly Western Region practices apply. That gives us:
1. Distant
2. Home
3. Intermediate Home
4. Inner Intermediate Home
5. Inner Home
6. Starting
7. Intermediate Starting
8. Advanced Starting
9. Outer Advanced Starting
Well done, wasn't expecting anyone to get it that quick. One small point though, I'm more used to seeing "Intermediate Advanced Starting" at 7. You say silly Western Region practices but remember there are 2 ways to run the railway: The GWR way and the wrong way.
You have to watch out as we don't call attention before we knock out.Oh no, not that mouldy old chestnut! Obviously a Great Western fanatic then (so called 'cos it was full of cowboys).
