My suggestion to remove third rail as a priority

Third rail is outdated and dangerous. Many people on here usually refer to natural selection in a smug way when hearing about these incidents. This isn't some vandal crossing the tracks to damage things.

Third rail ought to be removed and replaced with overhead wires as a priority. With the amount of deaths the third rail causes to both the public and even experienced rail workers why is anyone even making profit running trains from such a system with no attempt to even stop people being killed by it.

UK rail is outdated and dangerous. Many TOCs on here usually refer to performance figures in a smug way when hearing about customer complaints about performance. Packers are also criss-crossing the tracks and damaging things.

Everything ought to be removed and replaced by a SNCF TGV network as a priority. With the amount of delays our rail network causes to both the public and even experienced train spotters why is anyone even bothering running trains on such a system with no attempt to even upgrade it to something better.


.....well we can all wish for things......but we have to be realistic, it all comes down to money!

There are platforms at Exeter central they could layover in?

There are 3 platforms at Central, 2 through and one East facing bay, the only oine they could lay over in is the bay.

How many people actually transfer from trains on the Waterloo-Exeter route onto trains that leave from St Davids?
And if a few hundred yards of knitting is so cheap why was the layout at Exeter St Davids listed as a major roadblock to the project?
EIther its so cheap you wouldn't even notice the cost or its rather expensive at which point I doubt the 'connections' angle can be justified.

The seawall is a bit of a problem!
OHL isnt cheap but to leave out a few hundred yards on a project like this is stupid.

I do.

St Davids is the major regional hub. It would be highly retrograde to terminate services from a major corridor one stop away from the onward connections.
