I know South West Trains doesn't operate delay repay so the following is hypothetical.
The other week I travelled from Farnham to Guildford via Woking. I had two tickets for the journey
The train from Farnham was 3 minutes late into Woking. It came in on platform 1 and my connecting train was from platform 5. The connection time between trains is 5 minutes if all is on time.
I missed my connecting train because I wasn't paying attention to my Farnham train being late and I was way down the platform from the stairs. By the time I'd walked to the stairs and across my connecting train had gone.
The next train was late and then got delayed at Worpolesden whilst helping a passenger on the other platform. I was 30 minutes late into Guildford.
In such cases where delay repay scheme is used, would I have been refunded anything?
If I'd run I'd have made the connection but I'm aware TOCs prefer passengers not to run at stations. Had I realised how late I was I would have been closer to the stairs in my train. I also saw a train leave thought it must be my one so no point in running now but it actually was a different train going else where.
